Business Incentives

In early 2011, property owners, who had completed renovations on a couple of historic, but long-neglected, buildings in Downtown Mount Holly, began working with City officials in an effort to actively recruit new businesses, while encouraging retention and expansion of existing ones. Staff quickly took the topic to the Mount Holly Economic Development Committee for further discussion, and soon, a recommendation was borne out of the EDC for a proposal to start a small business grant program. In June 2011, City Council adopted the Business Incentive Grant program for Mount Holly by earmarking $100,000 in the general fund to serve as cash grants for small businesses seeking to expand their existing business or start a new business within the city limits of Mount Holly.
