Our Streets and Solid Waste Department Director position has been filled by Miles Braswell. Mr. Braswell comes to the City of Mount Holly from Gaston County Schools, where he was employed as the Director of Transportation. Prior to directing fleet operations for several years (20122014), he was Gaston County Schools' Bond Project Manager (20072012), managing capital construction projects in the 3rd phase of the 2001 Bond.
A graduate of North Carolina State University, Mr. Braswell started his career with S&ME, Inc. (19982000), an environmental and construction engineering firm. This allowed the opportunity to understand environmental conditions associated with waste operations and to manage construction services projects.
From S&ME, he was hired by the City of Charlotte as a Project Manager in the Engineering and Property Management Department (20002007), managing the parking lot/parking deck capital improvement program. He gained experience in pavement management, while building the understanding of local government operations, contracting and procurement methods.
To further his education, Mr. Braswell holds a Real Property Administrator designation from the Building Owners and Managers Institute.
Mr. Braswell grew up and currently resides in Belmont and is married to Erin Queen Braswell. They have three children – two girls and one boy – all who attend Belmont Central Elementary School.
