Message From the Manager - Special Events Season Begins

Hello Citizens,

Hope all is well with you. Here's wishing you a happy start to the Spring season.

Speaking of the Spring season, it marks the start of the city's Special Events. More specifically, it's Food Truck Friday time for downtown Mount Holly. Cheri Love, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Mount Holly, has put together a great calendar of events for Food Truck Friday. The first event is April 7 with DJ Johnny B providing some of the entertainment. Also providing entertainment will be The Fantastic Shakers.

All Food Truck Friday events will be from 5:00pm – 9:00pm. The City's Annual Fireworks Celebration will take place on June 29 from 5:30pm until the completion of the fireworks show. Coming Up Brass will be performing on the night of the Annual Fireworks Celebration.

In addition to the Food Truck Friday Events I am happy to announce that the City Council has approved a new schedule of events for our downtown this year. Mount Holly Parks & Recreation Commissioner, Phyllis Harris, has been appointed to coordinate a Friday Concert Schedule of Events. This will involve a series of bands performing in our downtown on Fridays, which as stated, is an enhancement to the Food Truck Friday schedule.

The first of the Friday Concerts will begin on May 19 with Gary Lowder & Smokin' Hot performing. The Friday Concerts will begin at 7:00pm and conclude at 10:00pm.

It looks like our downtown will be fun packed with events on Friday nights from April until October. The City of Mount Holly would like to invite the community to come out on the scheduled Friday nights and enjoy the events as mentioned. It is my hope that the merchants in our downtown can take advantage of the events by promoting their businesses and encouraging folks to visit and patronize their establishments.

I would like to personally thank the Mount Holly City Council, the two mentioned Coordinators of Events, other city employees (especially the work crews), volunteers, Mount Holly Athletic Association, Mount Holly Optimist Club, local businesses and last but certainly not least, the citizens, for your part in making the downtown events successful.

Please help us promote the events by word of mouth, social media, email, etc. Click here to download the Special Events Schedule.

Thank you for your support and have a joyful month of April.

– Danny Jackson, City Manager
