Downtown Park Feasibility Study

Downtown Park Feasibility Study

Coming out of the last phase of the Strategic Vision Plan Update, City Council authorized staff to carry forth a Downtown Park Feasibility Study which would determine whether the City should look to expand Veterans Park or develop another standalone park in downtown. The plan changed several times, based on the feedback from the Steering Committee, the public, and the Parks and Recreation Commission.

Ultimately, the splash pad component was incorporated into the Veterans Park Expansion Plan.

Multiple project meetings and presentations were held during this project:

  • Steering Committee Meetings
  • Public Workshop (December 4th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM in the Grand Hall)
  • Presentation to the Parks & Recreation Commission
  • Presentation to City Council

In 2014 at the Mount Holly Matters Forum, the idea of downtown amenities to help support business received positive feedback. The Strategic Vision Plan Update, which was adopted in January 2019, lists these projects as priorities for downtown development based on feedback from over 300 individual, group, or public meetings and 542 completed surveys from stakeholders.
