Pollution Prevention & Good Housekeeping
Setting a good example
The City of Mount Holly conducts numerous activities that can pose a possible threat to water quality if practices and procedures are not in place to prevent pollutants from entering the drainage system. These activities include winter road maintenance, minor road repairs and other infrastructure work, automobile fleet maintenance, landscaping and park maintenance, and building maintenance.
Our goal is to implement an operation and maintenance program with the goal of preventing or reducing pollutant runoff from municipal operations.
Steps to meet this goal:
- Street sweeping & catch basin cleaning
- Spill response procedures in place at municipal operations
- Employee training to prevent and reduce stormwater pollution

What can you do?
Did you know that storm drains lead to ditches and creeks that drain to the Catawba River? There's no treatment or filtering of this water between your yard and the river. Please do your part to keep our water clean.
